News Release :: April 20th, 2006
Vurtur Communications Group (vurtur.com) and the Canadian Association of Optometrists (opto.ca) announced today a project to develop a webPortal for its member-based optometrist professionals.
The member’s only webportal will be instrumental in bringing key information to the industry in a faster, smarter way, and will promote the ease of access to relevant information by way of intelligent CMS (Content Management System) which is fully User aware. “We are confident that this will be one of the most advanced Doctor’s portal in the world.” – said Robin Galipeau, President of Vurtur Communications Group.
The site will be bilingual and RSS-based (Really Simply Syndication)… which will allow for full broadcast to all RSS member-subscribers.
“The environment is truly intelligent; it will post all new updates from user’s last login session… and even tailor to their membership profile. With a type-ahead live search feature that returns relevant content before even hitting the Search button, members will spend less wasted time online. The magic is really in the back-end… by enabling CAO staff to easily post and control the environment in a multilingual CMS solution. Allowing its members to vote on polls, and actively participate in blog like discussions on any posted article or news item. This Open-Source platform is really the best fit for their needs” – said Robin Galipeau.
“After an extensive review process, it became clear that we needed to integrate a web solution that would enable us look beyond the next generation of Eye Health professionals”, said Doris Mirella, Director of Communications for the Canadian Association of Optometrists. “With our aging demographic and younger membership base, this was the perfect time to make the move and render a membership webportal that does more than simply post content pages. We met with many industry leaders, and chose Vurtur Communications Group to lead this initiative. Their experience in this field really showed through in their proposal. Vurtur’s demonstration environment truly stood out! We are confident this solution will significantly improve optometric communication regarding developments in the eye care community.”
